Most commercial tables are put together with easily removed screws, nuts, bolts, screw-out glides and snap-on parts. Unacceptable if you have to worry about who has access to these loose parts and what they might do with them.
Norix created the Multi-Purpose Series of tables specifically for these situations so you don’t have to think about the possibility of someone getting hurt by altered furniture parts.
THINGS TO LOOK FOR
Starting with the base, Norix builds in a patented non-removable, heavy-duty adjustable glide so you can protect your floors and adjust for bumps and dips without concern over someone unscrewing the glide stem and turning it into a weapon. The base column is also fully sealed leaving no openings to hide contraband.
The top is constructed with embedded t-nuts so when attaching the base to the top you have a solid metal-to-metal connection with tamper-resistant security head screws with Dry-Lock® compound. Other companies simply attach the base to the top with wood screws.
PEEK INSIDE
The average laminate table top has a particle board core with .030” laminate on the surface and a backer sheet on the bottom. The vinyl edge is press fit into a groove. The Multi-Purpose Series starts the same, but uses the thicker heavy-duty .050” laminate and phenolic backer sheet. The vinyl t-mold edge is then press fit. . . and glued. . . and pinned in place around the entire circumference. |
